Interlocked and separate quotas.
A plan holds two kinds of quota, and you can add several of each.
Interlocked
Every combination gets its own target. Pick two or more variables (for example Age x Gender x Location) and Glow builds the full grid: earlier variables become the rows, the last one becomes the columns. Use it when the mix within each combination matters.
Separate
Each option gets its own target and nothing is crossed. Use it for standalone lists like family segments (SINKs, DINKs, Young families) or an overall market cap.
Choosing variables
- Click Variables on the quota card.
- Tick the questions you want. Only closed questions are offered; open text and grid questions cannot carry a quota.
- Watch the footer: it shows the grid size live (5 x 8 = 40 cells) before you commit. Grids are capped at 500 cells.
- Click Apply.
Three things to know. Variables always land in survey order, whatever order you tick them in, so Q1 x Q2 x Q3 is the only shape those three can take. And if your survey already has responses, Glow warns that the new cells start counting from now: earlier responses cannot be counted into them. Changing an interlocked quota's variables later clears all of its targets, so Glow warns before you apply.
Tag variables
At the bottom of the Variables dialog, Build a tag variable turns existing survey tags into a variable: tick the tags (for example AU, UK, US), name it, and it becomes selectable like a question. Tag-built cells count differently from question-built cells, see How counting and screening work. Tag variables currently belong to the quota they were built in, so rebuild them for each quota that needs them.Housekeeping
The menu on each quota card offers Clear all targets, Copy counter names (SSR), and Delete quota. Deleting a quota abandons its counters: a replacement quota starts from zero.
