AI Build.
Glow's AI Builder / Editor allows you to quickly create surveys using AI either...
- from scratch using only prompts AND/OR
- via import from Word or PDF
To create an AI survey...
- click on (or create) a Project.
- hit '+New Survey' and select 'AI Assisted Survey Builder'
From Scratch
In the chat / prompt box (with an orange border at the bottom of the left panel), give AI your survey specifications, i.e.:
- Audience — e.g. which country or any specific targeting.
- Topic — e.g. brand awareness, customer satisfaction, product feedback.
- Outcomes — e.g. what decisions will the results inform.
- Any specific sections or questions — e.g. demographics, satisfaction, importance, etc.
- Any specific limitations — e.g. length of survey, question types.
Via Import
Use the paperclip icon to attach a word or pdf document. this document could be a brief or a survey that's already written or could be additional material.
Once uploaded, add a prompt like "Import the attached survey" or "Build a survey using the attached brief".

Note that Glow's AI can't import images. It can only import text from your Word or PDF files. Also note that other files such as Excel can be imported if it's first converted to a PDF.
Prompt Tips:
Within the prompt box...
- press 'shift enter' on your keyboard to go to the next line.
- press 'enter' or click the 'right arrow' icon at the bottom right of your chat box to submit your prompt.
- click the 'paperclip' icon to attach a document (from Word or PDF)
- Bullets are not compatible within the prompt box, but you can instead use dashes '-' or numbers (1, 2, 3) or letters (a, b, c, d) or roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, v) at the start of each new line to mimic bullets.
- When uploading a survey file, if any questions are missing, just paste them directly into the prompt box and ask the AI to add them to the end of the survey without removing any existing questions:
- Up to 5 lines will be visible at a time in the prompt box so use the scroll bar to scroll down/up if needed.

Once you submit your prompt, your conversation history will appear in the left panel.
Your survey will be generated on the right panel.

Making Changes to your Draft AI Survey
Once your survey is generated in the right panel, you can request changes in the chat box at the bottom of the left panel.
Some of the things you can do are...
- Remove, modify, or add questions, options (choices or statements), or sections.
- Change question type, e.g.
- from Text to Choice or
- from Choice to Matrix or
- from Matrix to Constant sum or
- from Constant Sum to Constant Sum | Matrix or
- vice versa (any conversion is possible)
- Split questions (e.g. 1 to 3)
- Merge questions (e.g. 3 to 1)
- Move questions
AI Clarifications
Whether creating AI surveys from scratch OR via import from Word or PDF, wherever the AI is unclear or needs more detail, it will ask for clarification until it has everything it needs to create a survey or question for you. The AI's questions will appear in the left chat panel.
E.g. if you asked for a demographic section, it might ask what specific demographics you want, so you need to specify gender, age groups, state, region, income, etc. Or if you asked for a prompted brand awareness question, it might ask for a list of brands.
'Load' Previous Versions
If for any reason, you want to revert to a previous version of your survey, click the 'Load' button in your conversation history for the survey version (in the blue bubbles) that you want to load.

The version of the survey that's 'loaded' will also appear at the top left of your survey title so if we load survey v2, then 'v2' will appear next to our survey title.

'Save and Exit' vs. 'Exit to Manual Builder' vs. 'Back'
Back will take you back to your Project folder
Exit to Manual Survey Builder will take to forward to the Manual Builder but:
- without saving your AI survey in the Project folder and
- without applying any changes made in AI mode to your Manual Builder
Save and Exit will take you forward to the Manual Editor and:
- saves your AI survey in the Project folder and
- applies the loaded AI version to your Manual Builder
- creates an AI brief (downloadable from the Manual Builder)
- saves the AI conversation (again downloadable from the Manual Builder)
Manual Editor
Once you're in the Manual Build, you can make your own changes to the survey without the assistance of AI. You can always go back to AI Mode but note that any changes saved in the Manual Editor will not be reflected in the AI mode.
And if you then want to go back to the Manual Editor from the AI mode, you can either hit:
- 'Exit to Manual Survey Builder' to go back to the last version saved in your Manual Editor OR
- 'Save and Exit' to use the loaded AI version and override any changes previously saved in the Manual Editor.
Notes:
- AI currently does not create any logic (e.g. exit respondent if selected option 5 at Q3, or display Q10 if tag=XYZ), or randomisation of orders, or loops, or tags, or pick a different matrix display type (e.g. scale or dropdown or carousel instead of grid). These all have to be added within the manual editor once you're happy with the AI questions.
- AI mode will be disabled if your survey has active channels or captured responses.
