Stitch Questions Together (e.g. Brand Funnels).

If you have the exact same set of choices appearing across multiple questions, e.g. in brand funnels where the same brands appear in your awareness (Q1), consideration (Q2), recently purchased (Q3), and most preferred (Q4) questions, then you can stitch these separate choices and questions together into a single view using Filters, Duplicate Views, and Configured Options so you can see how each brand funnels from awareness to consideration in the same view.

It's basically transposing your data:

  • from 4 question views x 10 brands
  • to 10 brand views x 4 questions

Before: 4 questions x 10 brands

[insert screenshot of...]

  • Aware of Brands A-Z
  • Considered Brands A-Z
  • Recently Bought Brands A-Z
  • Most Preferred Brands A-Z

After: 10 brand funnels (x 4 questions)

  • Brand A Funnel
  • Brand B Funnel
  • Brand C Funnel
  • Brand D Funnel

It might seem like simply re-arranging the deck chairs, but the brand funnel format can be much easier for your clients to process as they get the full picture for each brand in 1 view.

Stitch Questions

To stitch questions together,

1: Create a filter for each of your choices (i.e. brands), across each of your questions (e.g. 10 brands x 4 questions = 40 filters)

2: Duplicate a view asked of all respondents (e.g. gender)

In your "Choices Config" menu (i.e. the cog icon above table / below chart to the right), either:

  • Merge all choices into 1 merged choice and rename to 'All' OR
  • Tick 'Combine Weighted' and rename to 'All'

Click 'Apply' then rename view (click on your chart title and start typing), e.g. to 'Brand A Funnel'

3: Transpose Table - i.e. switch:

  • from Choices (Rows) x Filters (Columns)
  • to Filters (Rows) x Choices (Columns)
  • but keep Values as Column %

4:  Add your brand's filters across Aware, Consider, Bought, and Prefer to your table's rows (with the '+Filter' button).

Et voila 🎉

5: Duplicate the above view for each brand, rename them, and replace the brand filters using:

  • the 'x' button next to each filter to remove, and
  • the '+Filter' button in your table rows to add. 🎉

Create 40 Filters

To create a filter,

  • Click Create Filter
  • Name your Filter
  • Click the Condition dropdown
    • Scroll down to your question, e.g. Q1. Consideration OR
    • Use the Search bar to find your question, e.g. "consider"
  • Choose your logic condition, e.g. Any of > Brand A
  • Click "Done"

That's your 1st filter done.

To quickly create 39 more filters:

  • Select the filter (tick it's checkbox)
  • Click the 'Duplicate' icon 39 times OR
    • Click the 'Duplicate' icon 9x more,
    • Select all 10 filters (hold 'shift' to select a range)
    • Click the 'Duplicate' icon 4x more.
  • Select all 40 filters (hold 'shift' to select a range)
  • Click the 'Edit' icon - this allows you to edit 40 filters at once.

Note: "Quick Filters" is in Top 10 Product-Development Roadmap which will speed up this filter creation process significantly as it will allow you to instantly create 10's and even 100's of filters from choices in questions, or from tags or channels in your survey. What takes many steps now will take only a few steps soon.

Once your 40 filters are created, proceed to steps 2-5 in the stitching process above.
