How to Analyse Matrix Score (x) / Average (x̄)?

Matrix questions are easy to score and average in AV2

To do this:

  1. Go to a matrix question
  2. click the cog icon next to your Choices to open the config/netting menu

  1. assign scores to each of your choices, e.g. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
  2. tick Combine Weighted and give your combined variable a name, e.g. "Times Added p/week"
  3. click Done

  1. click the 'Values' dropdown and select "Average"

You can now see the average times hot sauce is added to each mealtime p/week, i.e.

  • 1x p/week for breakfast,
  • 2x p/week for lunch, and
  • 3x p/week for dinner.

To cut across multiple filters

  1. click the 'Target' dropdown and select a statement, e.g. "Lunch".
  2. this will automatically change your 'Rows' dropdown to "Filters".
  3. click the '+' button in your table rows (below the "All" filter)
    1. NOT the '+' button above your chart
  4. select the filters you want to add, e.g. 2 gender, 3 age, and 4 time filters, then click Add

Your filters will be added to your table rows and chart x-axis so you can compare filter averages side by side and see differences between them (if any!), e.g. hot sauce was added to lunch...

  • 3x p/week for 18-40yrs,
  • 2x p/week for 41-6yrs, and
  • 1x p/week for 61-100yrs.

To switch between statements, click the 'Target' dropdown and change to either "Breakfast" or "Evening meal"
