Randomisation.

Randomisation helps to remove certain response biases, like respondents picking the top response or not reading all responses. There are 3 options to randomise:

  • Shuffle randomises the order of choices in a question displayed to a respondent, e.g. A-B-C-D-E might become C-D-A-E-B or B-A-D-E-C
  • Rotate retains your list order but rotates the 1st choice in order, e.g. A-B-C-D-E might become B-C-D-E-A or C-D-E-A-B. This is great for alphabetically ordered lists
  • Flip retains your list order but randomly reverses the order, which is great for scale type choices, e.g. A-B-C-D-E randomly flips to E-D-C-B-A

You can randomise both Options (like Choices and Statements) AND Headers (Groups of Options) in your question editor using the Randomize button above your choices and statements.

You can also randomise Loops, shuffle Questions, and shuffle Groups of Questions in your Survey Settings.
