How can I Select, Move, Duplicate, Remove, and Hide Questions and Sections?

To select question or section blocks, click the tickbox to the left of logic editor icon. The number of blocks selected will appear in your survey menu above the survey settings (in this case, 2 items).

To clear selections, click the cancel icon in your survey menu, the fifth button at the very right (circle with line)

To duplicate questions and sections, first select the question blocks, then in your survey menu, click the duplicate icon in the centre (2 pieces of paper). Your duplicated questions will appear below each of the original questions and remain ticked.

To move questions and sections up or down, first select the questions blocks you want to move, then in your survey menu, click the up or down arrows.

If you press shift while clicking the up or down arrows, you can jump your selected blocks above or below a selected question. This is best used to move blocks from the bottom of your survey to the top of your survey or from top to bottom.

To remove selected questions and sections, click the remove icon (trash can/bin)

Alternatively, you can remove, hide, and duplicate blocks individually within the Question Editor and Section Editor's 3-dot/kebab menu. Hidden Sections (not seen by respondents) can be especially useful to help divide your survey in the Survey Builder.

Note that if a survey that has captured responses or has live channels:

  • You can still add new questions BUT
  • You cannot remove questions so the remove icon will be greyed out in the survey menu if you try to remove a question that way in a live survey.
  • Nevertheless, you can still hide questions so that they:
    • don't appear to respondents in your survey view.
    • don't appear in your analysis charts and tables.

This retains the integrity of your survey data, and allows you to run trackers, i.e. run the same survey multiple times across multiple waves without the fear of deleting historical data.
